Setting Up Your TrailHUB Account
A checklist for taking a new TrailHUB account from sign-up to a live trail system with trails, updates, trustees and a subscription.
TrailHUB is map driven: your trails live on a map, and that map powers your public page, your embeds and your signage. The steps below take you from a new account to a trail system your audience can use. Every new account includes a 30-day free trial.
#Steps
- Create a manager account if you have not already. This is the account your subscription is billed through, and you can run several trail systems under it.
- Finish the Create Trail System form that appears after sign-up: name, description, phone, website, logo, units, language and a default map location. You can change any of this later in Trail System Settings.
- Add your trails from the Trails menu: draw them on the map or upload a trail file. Distance, elevation profiles and the map itself all come from the trail geometry, so every trail needs a line on the map.
- Place points of interest (trailheads, parking, warming huts, webcams and so on) around your map.
- Post notices, surface conditions and snow reports from the Updates menu.
- Invite trustees to help manage the trail system. Each trustee needs their own manager account before you can invite them.
- Share your trail system: copy the direct link, embed code or QR code, or launch signage mode.
- Add more trail systems from User Settings → My Trail Systems → New Trail System if you need them. See Managing multiple trail systems.
- Choose a plan before your trial ends in User Settings → Billing. See Billing and Plans and pricing.
#Good to know
- All menus are in the navigation bar along the top of the map. See Map interface.
- New trail systems are created with Trail System Inactive switched on, so they are hidden from the TrailHUB directory while you build them. Turn it off when you are ready to go live. The direct link to your trail system works either way. See Hide a trail system.
- Hiding a trail system is also handy for seasonal systems you want out of the directory for part of the year.
- There is no public phone app. Visitors use the website and can add it to their home screen; see Phone app. Managers who groom trails can try the Grooming Tracker app, currently in beta.
- Your audience can create a free public account to subscribe to your trail system and receive email or SMS alerts when you post updates.
- Scripts and AI assistants can manage your trail systems through the Management API using an API key from User Settings → API Keys.
